Information Rhodes Town
Simply put, the visitor’s love for the island is the result of a relationship that was just bound to end like this, because Rhodes, the whole island, seduces in a series of inevitable ways, causing even the most dispassionate visitor at last, to fall.
The hospitality of the inhabitants, the manners and customs religiously guarded by village folk, and the hundreds of ways the people have of enjoying themselves, whether at the traditional festivals, where everyone performs the traditional Greek dances – the sousta, the sirtos, the kalamatianos – accompanied by the violin and flute, or at the top-quality cultural events that take place in Rhodes almost daily, or in the many night-clubs.
Rhodes really is magical, as you too, dear guest, will agree as soon as you get to know the island. And you will also then do us the great favour of removing the word “exaggeration” from your mind if it has possibly entered your thoughts on reading this introduction! Information Lindos
Lindos is situated on the south-eastern side of the island and provides an excellent base to explore the many delights of the "island of the sun". Lindos boasts a main beach, the nearby smaller Pallas beach and on the other side of the village, St.Pauls Bay, traditionally the place where St.Paul first set foot on the island.
With its exciting mix of taverns, restaurants, cafe bars, galleries and shops offering local handcrafted sandals, table coverings and other souvenirs, you will be spoilt for choice.
A village set against the backdrop of the historic Acropolis that can be reached only by foot or donkey ride. A sea of white stone villas and narrow streets that wind down towards the beaches, totally unspoiled by modern man.
Amongst the villas you will find rooftop taverns with fresh fish and souvlaki accompanied by a nice cold Greek local wine, open air coffee bars, local shops and most of all, the donkey taxis of Lindos. There are three beaches, which surround Lindos village all within easy walking distance.
Acropolis of Lindos
The original site of the 4th BC temple dedicated to the goddess Athena. The Acropolis is one of the most historic sites in Greece. You can reach it by foot or by a Lindos taxi (yes by donkey). It is open from 8.30am to 14.40pm daily except Mondays. Opening times are extended in the high season. It takes about 15 minutes to walk up the hill to the Acropolis.
